Senior Services
Traveling to Indianapolis is not always an option, so we’ll come to you!
The Community-Based Itinerant Rehabilitation Teaching (IRT) Program at Bosma Enterprises provides Vision Rehabilitation Service to any resident of Indiana whose vision loss affects their performance of daily activities.
Itinerant, meaning “traveling from place to place as part of your work”, perfectly describes our Itinerant Rehabilitation Teachers (IRT’s). The IRT’s role is diverse and includes the following services:
- In-Home Vision Rehabilitation Services
Covering all of Indiana, an IRT will travel to your home and
...conduct an assessment
...develop a teaching plan
...provide in-home training in the areas of daily living skills
- Focus Groups
Focus Groups include 30 hours of daily living skills training in a group setting. Locations for this service may include Bosma satellite offices, libraries, senior centers, or other community locations.
- Monthly Vision Loss Support Groups
Support group sessions provide much needed peer support for individuals adjusting to vision loss. Communication with others in similar situations reduces the feelings of isolation they can experience. It’s important to know you are not alone. Bosma’s staff facilitates the monthly support group by arranging outside speakers, highlighting resources and encouraging group discussions about vision loss and the impact that it has on the individual, their family, and the community.
- Public Presentations and Education
IRT staff are available to provide information about services available in your
community and to educate individuals in regard to vision loss and its impact
