Are you or someone you love, experiencing vision loss that is affecting your ability to carry out the tasks of daily living? Bosma Enterprises will send a Community-Based Instructor to develop a teaching plan and provide instruction in the comfort of your home.
Eligibility
This program is available at no cost to most Indiana residents who are at least 18 years of age and are experiencing challenges in their daily lives due to vision loss. Certain eligibility requirements may apply.
Areas of Instruction
• Daily Living Skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and household management
• Communication, including Braille, handwriting and recording devices
• Personal Management, such as clothing identification, grooming, and money management
• Lighting Assessments that include recommendations to help individuals see better in the home
• Low Vision Aids, such as talking watches, adaptive cooking utensils, and magnifiers
• Information and Referral Services to help clients access other help they may need
• Orientation and Mobility to help clients move about safely both inside and outside of the home
Additional Services for People Over 55
• Focus Group Instruction providing classes related to dealing with vision loss in a group setting at public
locations such as libraries and senior centers
• Adjustment counseling aimed at dealing with the emotional impact of vision loss
• Assessment of other barriers to independent living and short-term wrap-around services designed to
help the individual remain in the home
